This home belongs to one of the most charming clients we've ever had. After spending a week of working in this home, my team was actually sad to leave - and this was after stipping wallpaper, priming, painting, packing, moving and sorting through a home whose own has lived here for 55 years.
Doesn't it feel like the home is taking a breath of fresh air? The table cloth change was for the season at the request of the homeowner - small concessions for such big changes being allowed!
Does this feel like a change? The homeowner actually loves it and said that she now understands why all of this had to be done and how much of a difference it actually makes.
So.... this homeowner got the message, do all of you out there get it? By minimizing the personality in this home, it makes it far more neutral and easier for buyers to understand how they could live here.
While we could have done a little more by neutralizing linens, etc this homeowner was a really good sport about things and we did want to keep some of her favorite things here for her....

Melissa ~ It does look like the house is so refreshed now after having the wallpaper removed! How difficult that must have been for this homeowner after that length of time - kudos to you for getting the point across, and I'm sure doing it in a compassionate way. This house looks like it is now ready for a new owner to love it!

Amazing...how did you convince them? I have a similar situation and when people actually hung the wallpaper themselves, they seem to have an emotional attachment to it, don't they? These photos speak volumes....
Melissa -- while I could focus on the transformation made in the home (it looks lovely!), I also appreciate your compassion and diplomacy in referring to your client. Sometimes it's easy in this forum to be cavalier about the homes in the "before" pictures, whether they're dated or cluttered or just not our taste. But I appreciate your sensitivity in this post, and by example leading us to do the same. Your client was wonderful to trust the recommended changes in her beloved home, and should be congratulated for her open mind and willingness to work with everyone. Great improvement. My son and his wife recently bought an older home with horrible wallpaper. Multi layers of horrible wallpaper. There was wallpaper that looked like paneling and paneling that looked like tile. It was bad. We helped him update and removing that wallpaper was so much work. He got a steamer and it got easier, but what a job. And, what a messy job! It is all worth it though when you see the reults.

I can't even imagine having the same wall paper or paint for that matter up for 55 years.. That is at the very least 45 years to long.
Hi Melissa, great transformation. It is very overwhelming for someone who has been a home for a long time to change it. I give you credit for achieving as much as you did here. The new look is fresh and inviting. Now buyers can see how they could live there. I work with seniors often and I know what you mean when you say that you are sad to leave when the job is done. You make such an impression on each other it stays with you for a long time.
