Speaking Up about Home Staging

Final Class project

I appreciate all of the posts you all contributed to my class' first vacant staging job!  Below is their final class project.  This was actually the home of a local real estate agent who is putting her home on the market next week.  I think they did a fabulous job...

These photos clearly convey the changes that staging can create for a property. Which home would a good real estate agent prefer to list?  Which one would they prefer to show?  Which one would a buyer want to purchase?  A picture is worth a thousand words... these changes are worth thousands of dollars!

Don't you LOVE before and after photos?  I think it is one of the favorite parts of my job.  I'm always so proud of my students!

Very nice - though the first "before" picture is hard to see what was changed apart from the TV being closed up...I had to really peer at it.  Can you lighten it up a little?

I want that living room.  lol

Karen - really?  The photo is from the same angle in the room.... the couch was moved to a completely different position as was the chair in front of the fireplace.  The entire room layout was turned on an angle following the architecture of the fireplace.  This opened the room up to show a direct pathway to the view outside (which happens to be one of those gorgeous lakes with the big fountains in the middle - there is a huge deck overlooking the water outside those glass doors)  Previously the couch completely blocked the view and stopped your eye from following back... the room looks much longer.  We actually even pulled the dining table deeper into the room by about 2 ft (to open room in the dining space).  That is why it is more prominent in the photo.

I could lighten the photo, but actually there was no touching up on the second photo.  Part of the darkness on the first photo is actually because the couch was absorbing the light... keeping it from entering the backside of the room...

Fabulous Melissa!

The first thing I noticed was, how moving the couch completely changed the feel of the room. That, and the chair pulled away from the fireplace. How else can you enjoy that beautiful fireplace?

Wonderful. Congrats to your students.

Melissa,

I, too, love Before and Afters....when I watch shows like "Designed To Sell" and "Sell This House", I watch the first 5 minutes of the show, then go do something else and check back for the last 10 minutes or so to see the "afters"!  Isn't Staging amazing?????!!!!

Tell your students that they did a 'fantabulous' job!
