This year I decided to submit for the 2008 IRIS photo contest held at the Riding the Wave Conference in San Diego, CA. I entered a few of the categories, but honestly, I don't redesign and I rarely do owner occupieds anymore.... I refer those to my team. I had a slight struggle deciding what photos to submit for the vacant home staging living room category (the only one that allowed vacant staging). I have this tendency to forget to take the before photos (shame on me) and then there is a problem of making sure they are the exact same angle (which was clearly stated on the entry form).
Finally I decided on a home I recently staged....

AND I WON!!!!! It is the first time that I have entered photos to this contest. It was very exciting!!! Unfortunately it will be the last time I'll be able to enter it. Now that I am an instructor we will not be allowed to submit our photos. That said, we have discussed adding a 'class project' to the contest, so now I'll be able to enter rooms that my students have done! That means that they will all have the opportunity to become award winners too!!
So.... for all of those of you who voted for me, THANK YOU!!!

Congratulations Melissa! I enjoyed these photos when you posted them and wrote about this home a few months ago. The staging was fabulous-color palette was very lovely!!
Congratulations Melissa! I remember these photos too! You do awesome work and it is certainly deserving of acknowledgment and award! You may not be eligible to personally win this particular award while an instructor, but I predict your work will be acknowledged/rewarded in other venues. Continued success & thank you for sharing your knowledge of the business with all of us too!
Now, go shout it from the rooftops as you have inspired all of us to do!!!!!
Good for you Melissa! Congrats!! Regards-Kathleen G

That is so awesome Melissa. Very deserving. Congratulations!!!
Congratulations Melissa!
This is another perfect example of why I always say- just do it. If you don't do it, you are guaranteed not to win or get whatever it is you are thinking about going after. The only person stopping you is yourself and the limitations that you put on yourself.
Yeah Melissa!!!!!
Congrats - you deserve it!
Congratulations, Melissa! A well deserved honor...the transformation is beautiful!

Nice job Melissa, your work always looks wonderful! Congratulations.
No surprise to me Melissa. I noticed a long time ago when I got in the line named "Fans of Melissa's work" that it was quite lengthy. You should feel very proud!
Congrats Melissa! Your staging was great and you deserved to win. Great photos as well.
Congratulations Melissa! I love the color palette in this home. I had to leave before they gave the awards out, so I missed the excitement!
Congratulations again Melissa, well deserved. Good point about taking pictures from right place for before and after.
The trick is you never know where the good place is going to be before.
Congratulations Melissa! The room you created is beautiful and the photo shows off the room perfectly.
