I've been out of town a good part of this week, learning about color. Much of it I have known for a while. I have always made it a point to enhance my knowledge on the industry. This week, however I went for Dewey Color Certification to become a Dewey Color Instructor!

This means that for those of you in the south (or elsewhere if you really want to travel) I will be able to enhance your business skills by offering both the 1 day Coordinator course and the two day Color Consultant course!
I look forward to continuing my color journey with many of you here in the rain!

Classes begin in January and will be offered every month here in Summerville (a burb of Charleston), SC. If you would like to have classes offered in your area, email me privately and we'll see what we can do! (particularly for those in the Jacksonville or Tampa areas)

Oh, if only Minneapolis wasn't so far away--I want you for my instructor! I've considered those classes, just never made my mind up. I may have to talk with you more about that later. Congratulations!!
WOW thats cool but, are you going to stop Staging, to teach?
One more feather in your cap. I agree with you that it is important to keep expanding our knowledge. It is inspiring and moves you and your business forward. I love South Carolina and am just looking for a reason to return for a visit. You share a lot of information here on AR, and I am sure you are a great instructor with a lot to offer your students and peers. Congrats Melissa!
Melissa ~ Congrats! I'm hoping to take the consultants course one of these days.
Melissa, I read a book on the Dewey color system. It was real interesting to see how it came out.
Julie - if you could get a big enough class together, I would love to go there. My daughter has been wanting to go to the Mall of America!!
Fernando - I've been building a team to cut back a bit on the actual staging to help other stagers get their dreams going. I'm working on some additional things, which will likely be launched in January to help already trained stagers as well. I'll still be staging, but less - I can when I have such a great team!
Michele - Thank you!
Kathy - We will be offering the Consultant's course starting in January!
Marci - It really was. I took my color test at the class and it blew me away. When I read it to my family they just sort of stared at me because it was soooo dead on. BTW, in case anyone has the book, I'm a blue, purple, black......
Melissa,
Great post as always - I bet that knowlege comes in very handy! We have a couple of stagers in our group who have similar training and it makes a noticeable difference in the field.
Hi Melissa! Welcome to Dewey Color! It is an amazing color system - and it really does make color easy! I use the coordinator all the time - it is in my bag next to my cell!!! I am a yellow green brown...which is your least favorite Yellow or Red? hmmm... ;)
Thomas - I would think so. The more skills you have in your bag of tricks, the better, right?
Margaret - Yellow!!! least favorite achromatic - white.
Hi Melissa~ So excited to hear you are now a Dewey Instructor. I was fortunate enough to be involved on the advisory council when it was launched. I can honestly say that nothing set my process in place more dramatically then that event. It's a fairly long story that I have shared numerous times because I am without a doubt a living testment to Dewey's saying of Change Your Colors, Change your Life! Dewey is a dear friend and I wish you nothing but success! You will be a fabulous edition to the Dewey family. I am glad that I will be able to recommend your courses to those in the S. East.
By the way...I'm a blue, green, black! If we ever get the opportunity, I'll share my beloved " Dewey Diary " with you...it really did change my life!
Hi Melissa, This sounds awesome. I would love to come.. Maybe, I need to combine both of your classes. Congrats on completing this. God bless,
I am heading south in January...looks like I've gotten a way to write off some of the vacation!
Let me know when the dates are firm.
Gina - I did see a photo of you in my class slide show.... I had to say, "I know her!" Ok, really I don't 'know' you, but I feel like I do! I would love to hear your story!!! We are only one color away....
Cheryl - I am specifically putting my classes back to back so that someone who comes for a staging class can stay for a color one if they want! The dates will be posted on our new site soon - we are revamping it and should have it out in the next couple of weeks...
Dane - heck yeah! Write off!!! We do have the dates set for January... January 19th & 20th. If you will be here at a different time I can always try to add in an additional class just for you!!
Let me know if you're in the Dallas area any time.
Liz - absolutely!
Melissa~ You're right...just one color away...how cool! We'll chat about it sometime for sure!
hugs!
Gina - absolutely! I'm sure you'll be at the Dewey conferences, right?
Wasn't planning on it, but I'll speak with Jennifer about it. If you are going to be there it would be an absolutely wonderful opportunity to finally meet you in person.
Much success!
Wait! Is there one already planned?? Margi didn't tell me that... uh oh. When is it? Where is it?
Melissa~I don't know of any planned. If I remember correctly they just occur once a year and this years has already taken place. I didn't attend, but I was aware of it.
I have been wanting to do this for some time now. Maybe I should do it in the Southland for a change of scenery!
Gina - Whew! I was afraid I was already missing something from one of your comments!
Paula - You know it is nice and warm (relatively speaking) down here in the south, even in the winter!
