Speaking Up about Home Staging

Taking staging home... Artistic shots in your own life

I find that some of my favorite staging photos these days are the more artistic shots that I use in my portfolio.  While we take the prerequisite full room shots, we probably take just as many close ups from low angles.  Today we spent our Easter-Eve out at a cabin off of Lake Marion.  We walked along the beach, had a bon fire, roasted marshmallows, made smores and decorated easter eggs.... I thought about taking what I know from my staging job and turning up my home photos just a notch....

Of course I have photos of my kids coloring eggs but this is the moment.... all the hands in the glasses with the eggs and dye.  The white eggs waiting for their color....

We've been experiencing a drought this year.  The water has receeded and where normally there is water, plants are flourishing.  Of course the snails were not so lucky.

Shells left on the sand from the receeding water levels....

Lily by fire

My youngest daughter by the fire.... can you see her outlined just in the light of the fire?

I had a lot of fun with my new thought process.  I guess it's not just for staging anymore!

I need to start playing around with my new Canon so that I get to know it better.  What a good way to do it!  Thanks Melissa.

I love artistic photography.  Some of my best shots have been macros.

Marci - I'm just learning my camera.. trying new things.  I'm sure if you play with yours you would be amazed at the pictures you would get.  I know you already have the artistic eye for it!

Connie - Thank you!  I had a lot of fun... it was great looking at things from a different perspective!

Ginger - Did you get the one that Kimberly just blogged about?  I am thinking I may need to upgrade soon!

Gayle - I'm new to this whole macros thing.... I think the shots came out pretty cool though!  It is definately something I'll continue playing with.

Melissa, yes I got the SD Canon 870 IS.  So far so good.  I like the wide angle, stability function and more but it's so different from my previous Kodak, (which I loved) that I'm at the bottom of the learning curve and struggling with anything more that just point and shoot.  It know that it will come but I'm not exactly the patient type with all of the gadgets.

Melissa- You know by now how much I love your photography! It's great to see some non-staging shots! Well, I'm off to dye eggs with our 23 and 24 year olds! Still fun at any age!!!

Ginger - I have the Kodak z740.  I do love it, but I'm impressed with some of the abilities of that camera (particularly the ability to color isolate as in Kimberly's photos).  I have a wide angle and 10x zoom... I have to check the zoom of that camera.  It might help me make the decision.

Elaine - If you want to see more, go to www.kodakgallery.com/marrofamily it is my family homepage for photos.... I love sharing my personal photos!  I guess I just like sharing my kids and my life... how weird is that?  Have fun dying eggs!

Melissa- Thanks for sharing the link with me! What a nice collection of memories you have! Your kids are beautiful, and obviously very talented like their mom. I especially enjoyed your hairstyle changes, since I haven't changed mine in thirty years! ;)

Elaine - Lol... So you noticed huh?  I do like to mix it up a bit!  I get bored easily and color is a way fun way for me to have a little creative fun!  I figure if I hate it, I can cut it off and it will grow back.... lol.

Anthea - GIRL, where you been?  Thanks!  It's a bit of a separation from the norm I guess... but I like to take those photos too!
